130 years since the foundation of Asamura Patent Office, Japan’s longest established patent firm

On October 25, 2021, our firm celebrates its 130th anniversary, and we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to all of you for your trust and kind support over these years.

On the advice of Mr. Korekiyo Takahashi, the first Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office, Mr. Saburo Asamura resigned from his position as a government official and founded this firm in 1891 to stimulate and promote innovative and creative thinking. When the office was first established, Mr. Korekiyo Takahashi often came for a visit as he was concerned about the future of the very first private patent firm in Japan.

This photo below was taken in the Minister of Finance’s office with Mr. Korekiyo Takahashi, a Minister of Finance at that time, and Mr. Saburo Asamura, two years before the February 26 Incident. Mr. Korekiyo personally signed this photo, which is now displayed in the reception hall of our office.

In the future, Asamura Patent Office will not only continue supporting our clients by offering the best quality IP services but will also strive to provide new intellectual property-related services that meet the needs of our times, keeping in mind the wishes of our predecessors.

We hope we can count on your continued support and patronage as we move forward.
