Our Corporate and Social Responsibilities

Our Corporate and Social Responsibilities

We do not just do great work for our clients, we also try to work for our community and the environment.

We want the work we do to be a force for good in the world. This means more than helping innovative companies protect and profit from their inventions. It means looking at our impact on the world around us and making sure we are always promoting healthy communities, protecting our environment and helping the next generation get the skills they need to succeed.

● Protecting the environment

Reducing our power consumption

It is often the seemingly small steps that can have a really big impact. We have reduced our energy consumption by a third by turning lights off during lunch break, reducing fluorescent lighting on each floor and using LED fluorescent lights.

The Great Forest Wall

The Great Forest Wall Project is aimed at building a protective embankment along the coast affected by the Great Northeast Japan Earthquake. This embankment will consist of soil and debris where trees, primarily castanopsis, machilus and live oak, will be planted. Eventually the planted trees will become a forest that will protect against possible tsunami attacks.

We are proud to be involved in this amazing project(Chairman: Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister).

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The creation of a forest not only protects communities and livelihoods from disasters but also contributes to the conservation of natural capital through green infrastructure that utilises the functions of the natural environment. (What are the SDGs?)

● Intellectual Property education

We offer free consultations to members of the public and corporate employees in order to help promote knowledge of the intellectual property system.

Our patent attorneys are always happy to talk about intellectual property rights in patents, utility models, designs and trademarks with anyone that needs our help.

● Helping the next generation

We want to make sure that promising young people get the opportunities they need to develop their skills. We promote training for people to go and take leading roles in the development of emerging and newly developed economies.

From January to February 2014, Asamura Patent Office p.c. invited one examiner from the Indonesian Patent Office to serve as an intern at our office in Tokyo. This gave them the opportunity to experience working in a patent office while we obtained information about the Indonesian Patent Office.

We have also worked with the Korean Government in a program for short-term training overseas for public officials, and have trained and educated patent attorneys from China.

IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix

Asamura & Co. is proud to support the IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix, an international tournament organized by the Japan Blind Football Association (JBFA) and officially recognized by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), as a hometown sponsor with the aim of promoting blind football in Asia and around the world.
The IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix 2018 and 2019 were consecutively held at Tennozu Park in Shinagawa Ward for 5 days; the tournament was supposed to be held in 2020 once again for the third year in a row, but was unfortunately cancelled due to the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus. Despite the pandemic challenges and the absence of spectators, the tournament was successfully held in Shinagawa Ward for six days from May 30 to June 5, 2021, and our firm supported this competition again as a hometown sponsor. All the matches were broadcast live, and Japan was a runner-up. Thanks to special isolation regulations, the tournament was run in a safe and secure environment, and there were no cases of new coronavirus infections detected among the participants.
