{"id":7140,"date":"2019-11-27T17:58:03","date_gmt":"2019-11-27T08:58:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asamura.jp\/en\/?p=7140"},"modified":"2022-04-21T13:36:39","modified_gmt":"2022-04-21T04:36:39","slug":"shanghai-agency-visited-asamura-45","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asamura.jp\/en1\/2019\/11\/27\/shanghai-agency-visited-asamura-45\/","title":{"rendered":"A roundtable meeting with Shanghai Intellectual Property Services Association (SIPSA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Nov 27, 2019<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div id=\"sub_contents_bg\" class=\"no_select no_lang news_main_bg\">\r\n<div id=\"sub_contents_area\">\r\n<div class=\"main_size cb no_select no_lang\">\r\n<div id=\"sub_text_box\">\r\n<div class=\"sub_text_bg\">\r\n<div class=\"news_more_data\">\r\n<div class=\"news_more_text\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Asamura Patent Office welcomed both members of Shanghai Intellectual Property Services Association <br \/>\r\n(Shanghai Patent Attorney Association) and members of Association for the Promotion of International Trade (APIT) to a two hour meeting of the Japan-China Intellectual Property Exchange Association held in our office with consecutive interpretation in Japanese and Chinese.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">The meeting started with one of our attorneys giving a lecture on the type of research Japanese professors do and what they teach at universities.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">The lecture was followed by a discussion on Akira Yoshino\u2019s invention which won this year\u2019s Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Even though the invention was not patented outside Japan, the company was able to utilize the technology successfully thanks to the principle of independence of patents which states that patents applied for in the various countries by nationals of countries shall be independent of patents obtained for the same invention in other countries.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">In addition, there were various AI discussions where Chinese participants mentioned the names behind some of the famous AI creations in China while Japanese members made examples of AI becoming an invention abroad.
