Patent Attorney (Mechanical and Electrical)

Yuko Tanaka is a patent attorney who is a member of the Mechanical and Electrical Department of Asamura Patent Office, p.c. Since joining Asamura Patent Office in 2005, she has been closely involved in general patent application work (domestic patent applications, patent applications from abroad, and patent applications for foreign countries) in the Mechanical and Electrical Department.

Ms. Tanaka is particularly focused on patent strategy in emerging nations, including those in Asia, and is heavily involved in related research and ideas. At Asamura Patent Office, she is a member of the Asia Committee, and gathers information on intellectual property trends and similar matters occurring in Asia. In addition, Ms. Tanaka dedicates much effort to support for startups, including small to medium size businesses and venture companies, always exploring the many possibilities in support for companies, extending beyond patent application work.

While at university, she studied practical IT-based media technology, and was in the first class to graduate from the media department, the first of any university at the time in Japan. At the research laboratory, she was involved in research into and creation of image processing, man-machine interfaces, computer vision, specifically an eye-gaze input interface based on dynamic images, and a gesture recognition based three-dimensional input interface.

Utilizing her knowledge of advanced media, Ms. Tanaka brings her expertise to the traditional mechanical and electrical fields, and new fields as well.

Entertainment (two-person comedy acts, sketch comedy, comic stories), movies, and electronic design. My current obsession is pancakes.

There is a need to create new age IP strategies. In particular, patent searches, IP matching, and usage of IP for funding strategies or investment recovery ,are growing more important. I aim to become a patent attorney that enjoys taking on the new challenges of the fast developing IP word, working with clients, sharing ideas and tackling issues together.
