Kazuyuki OBINATA


Since joining Asamura Patent Office, p.c. in July 2008, Kazuyuki Obinata has been involved in trials, prior art searches/appraisals, and related activities. His focus is on patent applications (patent applications from abroad and for foreign countries) in the mechanical and electrical fields.

As an examiner and appeal examiner for patents and prior art at the Japan Patent Office, Mr. Obinata was involved in examinations, appeal examinations, and litigation for communication technology, video equipment, information processing technology, semiconductor devices, and interfaces. He also helped translate a patent examination manual into English and was part of a US-Japan patent examiners exchange program. He then served as a lecturer for nine years at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, Tokyo Institute of Technology, focusing on intellectual property systems.

Mr. Obinata’s research focused on distribution constant filters during his time as an undergraduate and graduate student at the University of Electro-Communications, where he majored in communication engineering.
