Yuichiro ASANO

Yuichiro Asano is a patent attorney working in the Chemical Department of Asamura Patent Office, p.c. and has been with the firm since 2003.

His specialty fields include nucleonics (the nuclear fuel cycle and actinoid chemistry), separation & analytic chemistry, welding & bonding engineering, metal engineering, inorganic materials chemistry, and electrical chemistry.

At university, Dr. Asano was working in Professor Kazuo Akashi's research laboratory, conducting research related to metal joining used in diffusion bonding under Head Research Officer Osamu Ohashi at the No. 3 Research Laboratory, Advanced Materials Processing Division, National Research Institute for Metals (currently NIMS).

At graduate school, he conducted research under Professor Hiroshi Tomiyasu on the development of a new reprocessing method for spent nuclear fuel as a way to safely and sensibly dispose of radioactive waste.

He received his Ph.D. in Nucleonics with a doctoral dissertation entitled "Research Related to the Development of a New Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing System in which Fuel is Reprocessed under Mild Conditions."
