Hisashi Kanamori joined Toranomon Hospital’s Department of Clinical Chemistry in 1989, where his work included examining diagnostic products and analysis equipment. After becoming a patent attorney in 1999 and joining a patent office, his main work was preparing patent specifications. Joining Asamura Patent Office in 2004, he has been involved in a range of work, including representing foreign and domestic companies in handling various Japan Patent Office procedures (applications, examinations correspondence, and trials), litigation, contracts, appraisals, consulting, and support work for intellectual property, such as handling patent procedures for Japanese companies at overseas patent offices.

At Asamura Patent Office, Mr. Kanamori is a member of the case study group, and prepares summaries of decisions related to inventions in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields and of decisions related to litigation proceedings. Outside our firm, he is a member of the Biolife Science Committee and the Patent Committee of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA), and collects information on patent work, with a focus on the biolife sciences.
