Katsuhiko Shimomura registered as a patent attorney in September 1998, then spent time in an intellectual property department, where his work involved intellectual property strategy planning and intellectual property management.

From April 2002 to March 2004, he served as a trainee at a US patent firm in Alexandria, Virginia (home of the United States Patent and Trademark Office). He passed the US Patent Bar Exam In December 2002 in order to become a patent agent, though the registration is no longer valid due to his return to Japan.

Mr. Shimomura joined Asamura Patent Office, p.c. in December 2009, and has been working as a patent attorney in the Chemical Department. His work here involves overseas and domestic patent applications, office actions, and appraisals.

He is able to provide service from a client perspective, drawing on the experiences he gained in the intellectual property department of his former company.
